Mityana District is surrounded by Kiboga District to the north, Nakaseke District to the northeast, Wakiso District to the east, Mubende District to the west, Mpigi District to the southeast, and Butambala and Gomba Districts to the south, Mityana is a community with deep-rooted connections and a rich cultural heritage.
Despite its picturesque landscape, Mityana faces significant challenges. In July 2023, the Minister of Land reported that over 35% of the population lives below the poverty line. Alarming statistics among children reveal that 14% are severely stunted, 3% are severely underweight, and 2% are severely wasted. Typical village homes are mud huts built with wattle and daub, topped with thatched or corrugated iron roofs, and often house up to 12 people in extended families. The Mityana Charity is dedicated to transforming these realities. Through our initiatives, we strive to uplift the community, foster sustainable development, and create lasting change in Mityana. Our efforts are driven by a vision of a thriving, self-sustaining community where every individual has the opportunity to succeed.
