Annual General Meeting of the Mityana Charity

On Tuesday, 21st May 2024, the Mityana Charity, a UK-based NGO, held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at St. Sebastian’s Parish Centre, Nine Mile Ride, Wokingham RG40 3AT. The event commenced at 7:30 pm, with light refreshments served from 7:00 pm, providing an opportunity for attendees to mingle and network before the official proceedings began.

The AGM featured various presentations, each offering insights into different aspects of the charity’s activities and future plans:

  1. Annual Performance Review: The first presentation provided an overview of the charity’s performance over the past year. Key achievements and challenges were highlighted, along with a detailed account of how the charity’s resources were allocated to various projects in Mityana, Uganda. The presentation emphasized the positive impact of their initiatives on the local community, including educational programs, healthcare projects, and infrastructure development.
  2. Trip to Mityana, Uganda – February 2024: The second presentation showcased a short video documenting the charity’s trip to Mityana in February 2024. This video highlighted the key activities undertaken during the trip, such as visiting schools, sponsored children, maternity ward construction that is underway, touring different cultural places and a safari to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for Gorilla trekking. The visual presentation brought to life the direct impact of the charity’s work on the ground and provided a compelling narrative of the experiences and contributions of the volunteers who participated.
  3. Future Involvement and 2025 Trip: Kinaalwa Geoffrey, director of PACT our sister charity in Uganda (Ugandan Mityana Charity) focused on how attendees and other supporters could get involved in the charity’s future activities. Detailed information was provided on the various ways one could contribute, including volunteering, fundraising, and spreading awareness. Additionally, there was a special emphasis on the upcoming trip to Uganda in 2025. Attendees were given insights into what to expect, how to prepare, and the different roles they could play during the trip. This segment aimed to inspire and recruit new participants for the upcoming journey.
  4. Gorilla Safari in Uganda: Following the main presentations, a brief talk was given about the Gorilla Safari that was part of the February trip to Uganda. This talk provided an intriguing glimpse into the unique and enriching experiences that the visitors enjoyed, combining their charitable efforts with the exploration of Uganda’s natural beauty and wildlife. The safari was highlighted as a memorable and educational component of the trip, offering participants a chance to witness the majestic gorillas in their natural habitat.

Overall, the AGM was a well-attended and informative event that not only reviewed the past year’s accomplishments but also inspired continued support and involvement in the Mityana Charity’s future endeavors. The presentations, especially the engaging video and detailed discussions about the Uganda trips, effectively conveyed the charity’s mission and the tangible impact of its work.
