The Raglan Hall, situated at PaCT’s facility in Mityana, will be a spacious multi-purpose hall that will serve various purposes upon completion. Its functions will include:
- Supplementing the Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) by providing additional space for skills training for young people.
- Hosting holiday meetings for sponsored children and their parents/guardians to advance their education and social economic wellbeing.
In addition, it will generate income for PaCT through the hiring of the hall for large training events and social gatherings. The income will supplement PaCT’s overhead costs and support the organisation’s sustainability.
With a seating capacity of 100-150, depending on the arrangement, the hall is being generously funded by Raglan House at Wellington College in the UK. Wellington College has been a long-standing supporter of The Mityana Charity, dating back to their contribution to the construction of Nabukenya Primary School.
The construction of the hall, which commenced in October 2018 during a visit by Wellington College students to Uganda, is yet to be completed. Once finished, Raglan Hall will be a valuable asset to the community, providing a versatile space for various activities and events and contributing to the mission of transforming the economic well-being of supported households.
In July 2024, a team consisting of two students from Raglan House at Wellington College, accompanied by their parents, visited Mityana and the Raglan Hall construction site. Upon witnessing the progress and understanding the significance of the project, they pledged to mobilize their peers to ensure the hall’s completion during 2025.
Thanks primarily to the fundraising endeavours of the students of Raglan House, the new facility is poised to become a vibrant hub for making a tangible difference in the lives of many.
