Why sponsor a child with us?

During the Ugandan civil war in the late 1980s, Mityana District endured severe hardship, leaving the region grappling with high poverty rates, a surge in orphans and widows, and widespread food insecurity. In subsequent decades the dire economic conditions have contributed to a surge in HIV infections and the abandonment or loss of parents to a range of diseases, leaving children under the care of grandparents or any distant relatives.

While many children aspire to pursue an education, financial constraints, lack of learning materials, and inadequate infrastructure impede their access to schooling.

Make a difference…

As a sponsor, you have the opportunity to select a child from our list of candidates and make a direct impact on their life. You will receive regular updates, including personal letters, academic reports, and photographs. Sponsors are encouraged to correspond with their sponsored child, send gifts, and even visit Mityana to meet them in person.

Our sponsorship programme targets the most vulnerable children, prioritizing those who are orphans, live with guardians with irregular income, or are part of extended families severely affected by parental illness or death. Through this programme, sponsored children also receive other essential support, including access to medical care and life skills coaching to support personal development and uninterrupted schooling.

What your money is spent on

Your contribution ensures a child receives a year’s worth of school fees and essential supplies, including a uniform, pair of shoes, shoe polish, pens, pencils, paper, exercise books, a school bag, a broom, soap, and toilet paper. These items are required by the schools for each child. Also your contributions cover any exam fees.

To sponsor a child, complete the sponsorship application form and then arrange a regular payment either as a standing order or via PayPal. If you are a UK tax payer, please complete a gift aid declaration.
