Who are we?

We are a Charity dedicated to helping deprived people in Mityana and surrounding districts in Uganda, by supporting education, improving healthcare, assisting religious communities, enhancing provision of water and sanitation, and raising awareness of basic rights and freedoms.

We focus on projects which support sustainable development to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Assistance is given to individuals, families and groups regardless of their gender, tribe or religious denomination.

How do we collect information from you?

We obtain information about you when you use our website, when you contact us about sponsorship or our charity projects, when you donate, or if you register to receive one of our standard communications: newsletter, AGM invitations, Annual Reports and occasional updates on the charity's achievements.

What type of information is collected from you?

The personal information we collect when you use our website or contact us can include your name, address, contact details including your email address and phone number. If you make a donation or sponsor a child in Mityana, Uganda, we may also hold information relating to your Gift Aid declaration.

Legal basis for collecting this information

Our legal basis for collecting and processing this enquiry, sponsorship and donation data is based on your consent to do so. We may also be legally required to hold some types of information to fulfil our statutory obligations (for example, financial record keeping and Gift Aid).

How is your information used?

We may use your information to:

process a donation that you have made;

send you information about your sponsored child

notify you of changes to our services to you;

send you our standard communications when you have requested us to do so.

Who has access to your information?

We will not sell or rent your information to third parties or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Please be reassured that we will not release your information to third parties unless we are required to do so by law, for example, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.

When you are using our online donation pages, your credit/debit card transaction is processed by a secure third-party payment processor. If you have any questions regarding secure transactions, please do contact us.

We retain all data within the EU and your data is not transferred to Uganda. When any services we use process data in the USA, data protection assurance is provided via the EU-US Privacy Shield framework.

Storage and retention of data

We have put in place technical and organisational security measures to prevent the loss or unauthorised access of your personal information. However, whilst we have used our best efforts to ensure the security of your data, please be aware that we cannot truly guarantee the security of information transmitted over the Internet.

We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity and review this.

Your choices

You have rights over the information we hold about you and how we communicate with you about the vital work we do for the community in Mityana, Uganda.
